Despite outgoing Valencia coach Unai Emery claiming that a deal between Los Che and Barcelona for the transfer of Jordi Alba was in place, there appears to be deadlock over the move.

According to El Mundo Deportivo, the two clubs are having genuine difficulty in coming to an agreement over the fee to be paid for the left back.

Valencia are holding out for a minimum of €15M, while Barcelona have offered a sum far short of this.

Alba has just one year left to run on his contract at the Mestalla and Barcelona believe Valencia’s €15M asking price is far too steep when this is taken into account.

The Camp Nou giants are now believed to be exploring alternatives in case no compromise can be reached with Los Che.

One such alternative, Tottenham Hotspur’s Gareth Bale, has been priced out of a switch to Barcelona after his English club slapped a €45M price tag on his head.
