Brazilian attacking midfielder Willian has slammed Shakhtar Donetsk for not allowing him to join Champions League winners Chelsea.

Roberto Di Matteo’s men have had four offers in total rejected by Shakhtar, the latest being for €25M on Tuesday.

Shakhtar coach Mircea Lucescu had indicated that Chelsea’s bid for Willian was €33M and accused the English side of wanting the player "at Eastern European prices", but the 23-year-old has contradicted this, insisting the true amount is €25M.

However, regardless of the sum the English Premier League giants offered, Willian is extremely disappointed not to have been allowed to leave the Ukrainian outfit.

"I do not know what the coach said, but the correct figure is €25M", the Brazilian told Globoesporte.

"Regardless of price, it is clear that I have the desire to play at a great club like Chelsea, the champions of the Champions League.

"I am really upset with the board for not letting me leave. It would be good for me and also for the club.

"Throw in that it is a major city and I could grow professionally and everyone knows what I want."

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea choose to try once again for Willian, but wealthy Shakhtar are under no financial pressure to sell.

This, combined with Lucescu’s belief that the Brazilian is better than Eden Hazard, who cost the Blues €40M, means Chelsea may have to pay an astonishing sum to sign the 23-year-old.
