Marseille are unhappy with the fee Chelsea propose to pay for right-back Cesar Azpilicueta, according to French daily La Provence.

Roberto Di Matteo’s Champions League winners are keen to scoop up the highly-rated Spaniard, but Marseille are demanding what they consider a "fair" price for the 22-year-old.

Chelsea’s offer for Azpilicueta is believed to be a basic €4M fee, with a further €3M to come in various add-ons, meaning the end figure could reach €7M.

In contrast, the cash-strapped French giants are looking for between €8M and €10M for Azpilicueta, a player they know the Blues rate as an extremely promising talent.

Azpilicueta is thought to be excited at the prospect of playing at Stamford Bridge and has already gone on record as stating his belief that his chances of forcing his way into Vicente del Bosque’s Spain squad may hinge on joining a bigger club.

Marseille are happy to sell the former Osasuna man, but only for the right price, regardless of the need which exists at the Stade Velodrome to cut costs.

It remains to be seen whether Chelsea will increase their offer and if so, by how much.
