Tottenham Hotspur appear to be rekindling their interest in Marseille striker Loic Remy just six days before the summer transfer window is due to slam shut.

Spurs chased the France international persistently under previous manager Harry Redknapp and it did seem the English club’s interest had ended along with the former Portsmouth boss’ reign at White Hart Lane; Redknapp even met Remy before he was sacked and looked almost certain to deliver the speedy striker as a summer signing.

Now under Andre Villas-Boas, Spurs look set to revisit the option of snapping up Remy.

According to Maxifoot, sources in France have indicated that Spurs are sending representatives to take in Marseille’s clash against Montpellier later today, with watching Remy clearly on their mind.

The striker, who made his return from injury during Marseille’s Europa League qualifier in midweek, is expected to get his first run out of the new Ligue 1 season at the Stade de la Mosson.

Elie Baup’s men have started the campaign in fine fashion, but still need to offload players as the club bid to cut costs.

Remy may then be available at a reduced rate, if Spurs were to make an official offer before the transfer window closes.
