Tottenham Hotspur boss Harry Redknapp met Marseille striker Loic Remy yesterday, according to the well-connected Le Parisien.

Redknapp’s interest in the speedy French goal-getter is well known, indeed Spurs had a player plus cash deal for the 25-year-old rejected in January.

The White Hart Lane outfit have been tipped to return with a more tempting proposal this summer and Remy is believed to be open to the prospect of lining up in a Spurs shirt next season.

Marseille however are still very much of the mind to keep the France international, especially given that during their poor Ligue 1 campaign, he has been the main shining light.

But if Tottenham have Champions League football to offer Remy, which will be the case unless Chelsea beat Bayern Munich in the competition’s final tomorrow, then that could be the key card which sways the striker to push for a switch to England.

Remy met Redknapp at Paris-Orly Airport, although whether concrete talks were held is unclear – but a face-to-face meeting is a significant step forward for Spurs in their chase.

The former Nice hitman missed Marseille’s 3-0 weekend victory over Auxerre with a thigh injury; the same knock is also putting his participation in Euro 2012 with France in some doubt.
