Carlo Ancelotti would take Italy midfielder Daniele De Rossi to Paris Saint-Germain given half the chance.

De Rossi is, Ancelotti has explained, a player he rates extremely highly and one he would have no hesitation in buying if the opportunity arose.

relatedNewsStoryAnd PSG are keeping tabs on the 29-year-old, who was chased by Manchester City throughout the summer transfer window, with Roma’s refusal to play ball ultimately causing the Citizens to buy Javi Garcia from Benfica instead.

"He is a great midfielder and I think it is normal that he is on the radar of PSG because PSG are one of the last clubs to have really made their mark in the transfer market", said Ancelotti to Gazzetta dello Sport.

"But, it remains the case that the transfer window is closed – we will discuss this again in January."

It remains to be seen whether Roma will be prepared to part with De Rossi and, if so, at what price.

The Giallorossi would, in the event of a sale, also hope that Manchester City renew their interest in the Italy international, to create a bidding war; the possibility could be a real one given Roberto Mancini is on record as stating his admiration for the tigerish midfielder.

De Rossi did sign a new contract with Roma last season however, which runs until 2017.

He has made four appearances in Serie A so far in the current campaign.
