Wesley Sneijder has knocked back interest from Fenerbahce, despite failing to yet find a solution to his situation at Inter, according to Voetbal International.

The Dutch playmaker was informed of interest in his services from Fenerbahce by international team-mate Dirk Kuyt, who insisted that Sneijder would be a superb signing for the Yellow Canaries.

But it appears that the talented schemer has decided that a move to Turkey is not something he is aiming for at this stage of his career, a development that will no doubt disappoint Fenerbahce.

Sneijder’s situation at Inter has still not been resolved however.

Inter have offered the former Real Madrid man a new contract, worth some €4M per year.

This though is a drop of €2M per year on his current salary and Sneijder has not accepted it.

Inter boss Andrea Stramaccioni recently remarked that the club have a number of midfielders with more quality than Sneijder, which was used to explain the player’s omission from recent sides.

The Dutch midfielder appears to be moving slowly but surely towards the exit door.

He looks unlikely though to end up in Istanbul, with a more realistic destination likely to be England, where Manchester United are confirmed suitors, or Russia, where Anzhi Makhachkala and Zenit St. Petersburg are both fans.
