Demba Ba has declared himself not ready to leave Newcastle United just yet, even if he does have much admiration for clubs like Arsenal and Paris Saint-Germain.

The Senegal striker is a man in demand, with a well-publicised release clause of just £7.5M in his contract making him an attractive option a number of clubs are looking at closely.

Unsurprisingly, Newcastle would like to keep hold of the 27-year-old and have been working on a new contract for Ba which would remove the clause.

The Magpies may well succeed, as Ba is happy at St. James’ Park, a fact he has again reaffirmed, even if at the same time admitting playing for a club like Arsenal or PSG is a future target at some point.

"PSG, I look at them as a fan and as a supporter", he told French radio station RMC.

"I have never hidden my attraction to the club as a fan, that I have had since I was little.

"And of course, I would like to play in the shirt of a team I support.

"But, just as I said about Arsenal, this is something far in the future."

Ba has found the back of the net eleven times in 18 Premier League games so far this season, despite Newcastle’s lacklustre campaign to date.

The 27-year-old continues to be rated as one of the most dangerous strikers in the English top flight and Magpies boss Alan Pardew clearly considers Ba one of his key performers.

It remains to be seen for how much longer the Magpies can keep him at St. James’ Park however if he keeps producing his goalscoring heroics, though the player does not seem minded to make a quick exit.
