Dutch defender John Heitinga is unhappy with his current situation at Everton and a switch away from the Toffees is a genuine possibility, his agent has revealed.

Heitinga has been spending too much time on the bench for his liking and is growing frustrated at Everton boss David Moyes not handing him regular starts at Goodison Park.

And the situation is set to come to a head soon.

"Heitinga is definitely not happy with what is happening at Everton and we don’t hide that", the player’s agent Rob Jansen told VI Radio.

"He is looking at a solution."

Only months ago there was the suggestion that Heitinga could extend his contract at Everton but now, Jansen insists, a transfer will be closely looked at if the possibility comes up.

"When an appropriate situation arises for a transfer, we will certainly not ignore it", he said.

Holland international Heitinga’s current contract at Everton runs until 2014.

He has appeared in 14 games for the Toffees in the Premier League so far this season, but has started just eight of those matches.
