Marouane Fellaini could complete a move from Everton to Chelsea this week, according to French sports daily L’Equipe.

According to the report, Chelsea are poised to splash £22M to snap up the Belgium international, with him having been identified as a replacement for Frank Lampard, whose contract at Stamford Bridge is not being renewed.

However, while Chelsea are believed to be putting a five-and-a-half-year contract in front of the midfielder, they could face opposition for his signature.

Indeed, Manchester United have been placed on the list as suitors for the Everton man.

Fellaini is highly rated by Manchester United boss Sir Alex Ferguson but, if the report is correct, the Old Trafford side will need to move very quickly to prevent the midfielder joining Chelsea.

Chelsea have already been active in the January transfer window so far, buying Demba Ba from Newcastle.

The Blues have also been strongly linked with launching a raid for Metalist Kharkiv’s Brazilian talent Taison.
