The agent of in-demand Benfica midfielder Nemanja Matic has explained that he finds it perfectly normal that his client is attracting much attention, due to the extraordinary rate at which he has developed since leaving Chelsea.

The Serbian is firmly established as one of Benfica’s key players under Jorge Jesus, with Manchester United and Juventus having both been linked with bidding for a midfielder who has ensured that Javi Garcia, sold to Manchester City last summer, has hardly been missed.

And Matic’s development has not been lost on his representative, Dejan Mitrovic.

"With how Matic is doing it is normal that clubs are interested in him. Just watch the way he plays, for example in the derby against Sporting", Mitrovic told Portuguese radio station Antena 1.

"It is amazing how his game has developed and how he plays in every game, so many clubs want to watch a player like him", he continued.

"At Chelsea he never had any good opportunities and he is now feeling well at a big club like Benfica."

Matic is helping Benfica in what could turn out to be a very special season for the Eagles.

In the semi-finals of the Europa League, top of the Portuguese Superliga and in the final of the Portuguese Cup, Benfica could complete a remarkable treble.

Matic was snapped up by Chelsea in 2009, but allowed to join Benfica as part of the deal which took David Luiz to Stamford Bridge in 2011.
