Saint-Etienne defender wunderkind Kurt Zouma is ready to leave Les Verts and has opened the door to a move to Liverpool, his agent has revealed.

The 18-year-old centre-back has long had his talent signposted and been tipped to reach the top. Saint-Etienne have resisted selling Zouma, despite persistent interest, and are easing him into first team action.

But the Frenchman is ready to continue his footballing education elsewhere, even if it means sitting on the bench at Liverpool.

Now D-Day is approaching for Zouma, who must decide whether to remain with Christophe Galtier’s Ligue 1 side, or head elsewhere, with interest from Brendan Rodgers’ men very real.

"It would not displease him to stay", Zouma’s agent David Vanditelli told Eurosport.

"Playing in the Europa League is a prospect that pleases him. But Liverpool and other clubs are very interesting.

"Today, Kurt is ready to leave.

"[He could] leave to sit on the bench, but it is better to be on the bench of a big club like Liverpool, with all due respect to Saint-Etienne."

Liverpool, who are seeking defensive reinforcements following the retirement of Jamie Carragher, are just one of a whole host of sides who have tracked Zouma’s progress over the last 18 months.

Indeed, Chelsea, Manchester United and Manchester City are all attentive to the Frenchman’s potential and have sent talent spotters to keep tabs on his progress.

Zouma has made 16 appearances in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne so far this season. Les Verts currently sit sixth with two games left to play.
