Liverpool are firm fans of Hannover goalkeeper Ron-Robert Zieler, the player’s agent has claimed, although the 24-year-old could cost over €8M if Brendan Rodgers’ men push to sign him this summer.

Reds goalkeeper Pepe Reina has been strongly linked with a move to Barcelona of late and Liverpool are scouring the transfer market for a replacement – which has led the Merseyside giants to Zieler.

Gunter Neuhaus, the shot-stopper’s agent, has confirmed Liverpool’s interest in his client, commenting: "They have started to keep an eye on him", to German daily Bild.

The 24-year-old previously played for Liverpool’s fierce rivals Manchester United, before heading back to Germany in 2010 to sign for Hannover. He made 49 appearances for the Bundesliga side this season.

Zieler has a contract with Hannover which runs until 2015. He could have left for a set fee of €8M had a deal been agreed before 1st May – but Liverpool have missed this deadline.
