Liverpool have been told to look elsewhere in their search for a goalkeeper by Bundesliga club Hannover.

The Merseyside giants are keen on Hannover shot-stopper Ron-Robert Zieler, who has impressed between the sticks at the German outfit, attracting Liverpool’s attention.

But Hannover are not willing to even entertain a single offer for the 24-year-old, insisting they do not need to part with any of their players.

"We do not need the money", Hannover president Martin Kind told German daily Bild.

"We want 96 to continue to develop."

Hannover coach Mirko Slomka meanwhile admits he is not at all surprised that Liverpool are keen on Zieler, praising the custodian as a "super goalkeeper".

"Zieler is a super goalkeeper", said Slomka.

"It is quite normal that he is focused on. I had been quite surprised, in any case, that no other club had approached him", he added.

Liverpool could have signed Zieler for a set fee of €8m before May this year. However, the passing of the deadline leaves Hannover free to demand any sum for the goalkeeper, something which has cooled Liverpool’s interest.

Zieler previously turned out for Liverpool’s rivals Manchester United, honing his skills in the Red Devils’ youth set-up before returning to Germany in 2010.

He has won two caps at international level for Germany.
