Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas has warned Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger that if he wants to buy Clement Grenier this summer he will have to fork out an amount comparable to that which Bayern Munich are paying for Mario Gotze.

The Champions League winners are lavishing €37m to sign Gotze from Borussia Dortmund – and Aulas believes that 22-year-old Grenier should command a similar sum.

Wenger has admitted that he is tracking the talented midfield schemer, whom he has compared to former Arsenal star Samir Nasri for his intelligence on the pitch.

The Frenchman even sent scout Gilles Grimandi to watch Grenier in action on Sunday, when Lyon beat Rennes 2-0, with the midfielder scoring the second goal.

But Aulas will not easily part with the France international.

"If Arsene wants to know a little about Grenier’s price, I can tell him that it is about the same as the amount Bayern Munich paid for Mario Gotze", Aulas told Canal +.

Grenier has hugely impressed with Lyon this season, but Wenger may think twice before splurging such a large amount on the young starlet.
