Merseyside giants Liverpool are believed to have joined the race to sign Sevilla right winger Jesus Navas, according to Spanish daily Marca.

The 27-year-old Spanish international has always been the goal manufacturer for Sevilla ever since his debut with the club during the 2003/04 season. In his time at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan, Navas has clocked up a total 77 assists for the club.

And while Navas has not shown to the fullest his ability during the 2012/13 campaign, scoring only one goal and tallying only nine assists in his 44 appearances for the club, he is still a highly-rated player.

Indeed, speculation is rife that the Sevilla winger could make a move to Manchester City once the transfer window opens this summer. Arsenal, for their part, were tipped to be pondering a €15m bid for Navas last year.

But now it seems Liverpool have joined the race for Navas, with Brendan Rodgers keen to bolster his team with the expertise of the Sevilla winger.

Sevilla are cash-strapped at the moment, and looking to raise a total €20m this summer to straighten out their fiscal accounts. A huge chunk of that will surely be slapped on Navas’ head.

The 27-year-old has a contract at the Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan until the end of the 2014/15 campaign.
