English Premier League giants Manchester United are closing in on Benfica centre-back Ezequiel Garay, according to Portuguese daily A Bola.

The 26-year-old defender has a termination clause of €20m, and Spanish giants Real Madrid are entitled to half of the amount on the basis of an agreement reached with Benfica during his switch from the Santiago Bernabeu in the summer of 2011.

Garay, who has a contract at Estadio da Luz until June 2015, has insisted that he is looking forward to fulfilling his present contract with the Portuguese giants.

The Argentine has also been linked with Spanish heavyweights Barcelona, who are looking into strengthening their defence prior to the start of the 2013/14 season, and are shortlisting several players, which include the likes of David Luiz and Jeremy Mathieu.
