Marseille have been rewarded for consistently finishing in the top three of Ligue 1 for the last five years with the highest television revenues for this season, according to figures published by L’Equipe.

Paris Saint-Germain won the league title – after a 19-year gap – but OM have been at the top end of the table enough to generate a €47.97m stockpile from TV revenues in 2012/13, beating their rivals to first place.

PSG’s revival under Carlo Ancelotti only saw the biggest impact this season, but they still managed €44.13m with Lyon not far behind at €43.95m.

However, in a reflection of the league’s huge disparity over a short period, 2008/09 champions Bordeaux were fourth on the TV-revenue list with €32.12m.

Even more surprising was the news that 2011/12 champions Montpellier were down in 11th with less than half of OM’s revenue in €21.84m.

Toulouse have recently been claiming a bleak financial future for their club, but nevertheless managed €23.99m to sit eighth which, combined with their proposed player sales, should go a long way to relieve pressure.

While relegated Troyes emerged with the wooden spoon at just €12.9m, newly-promoted Monaco unsurprisingly topped the Ligue 2 standings in TV revenue with €5.51m.
