Jose Mourinho has vetoed a loan for Kevin De Bruyne next season, Bayer Leverkusen sports manager Michael Reschke has explained.

The Bundesliga side had wanted to include a season-long loan for De Bruyne in the deal to sell Andre Schurrle to Chelsea and at one point were convinced the Blues had agreed to throw in the Belgian.

But De Bruyne and his agent consistently insisted that the final say would go to Chelsea’s new manager.

And Mourinho wants to keep hold of the talented Belgian, Reschke has explained.

"Chelsea and Jose Mourinho let us understand clearly at a meeting that Kevin will be going back to Chelsea for the new season", the Leverkusen man told the Koln Express.

"Chelsea will definitely not loan the player any more, and that means to any club.

"For us it is very unfortunate that we cannot couple that to a transfer for Andre Schurrle."

De Bruyne made a big splash in the Bundesliga last season, spending the campaign on loan at lowly Werder Bremen, but still excelling and attracting attention from all corners.
