Juventus’ capture of Carlos Tevez has pushed Gonzalo Higuain closer towards joining Arsenal, in the opinion of the player’s brother and agent Nicolas Higuain.

Tevez has been snapped up by Juventus from Manchester City and, in bagging the Argentine, the Bianconeri have secured the top quality striker their coach Antonio Conte craved this summer.

Elsewhere, Juventus have been battling with Arsenal for the signature of Real Madrid striker Gonzalo Higuain, but could now choose to cool that interest given their scooping up of Tevez.

Asked by Tutto Mercato whether if Tevez joining Juventus means Higuain would in turn be closer to heading to England and Arsenal, the player’s brother replied: "I think so.

"Juventus are a great club, but Gonzalo is too expensive for their coffers."

The Real Madrid hitman’s agent then addressed the possibility of Napoli moving to sign Higuain, with suggestions floating he could be a replacement for Edinson Cavani, but Nicolas Higuain stressed that the ball is squarely in Arsenal’s court.

"Napoli? They are a strong team and have a special meaning for Argentines. But I cannot deny that he is closer to Arsenal."
