New Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti wants to hold talks with striker Gonzalo Higuain, amid continuing uncertainty about the Argentine’s future.

Arsenal are leading the hunt for Higuain and the player’s father revealed last week that Real Madrid have given the striker’s representatives permission to open talks with the Gunners over personal terms.

It was widely assumed that Higuain’s arrival at the Emirates Stadium was imminent, but there appears to have been brakes put on that assumption, with the deal not yet in a position for the striker to land in London.

Indeed, according to Madrid-based daily Marca, new Los Blancos coach Ancelotti wants to sit down with Higuain to discover his intentions.

Meanwhile, if no official agreement if reached between Real Madrid and Arsenal before 15th July, Higuain will be required to report for pre-season training under Ancelotti.

Higuain is currently back in Madrid following a summer break and is already training to stay fit.

The Argentine striker is keen for a move away from Real Madrid and is open to joining Arsenal in the Premier League, but the details of the switch remain to be ironed out, with Los Blancos tough negotiators.
