Wolfsburg have been dealt a blow in their desire for Bayern Munich midfielder Luiz Gustavo, with the player reaffirming his wish to stay with the Bundesliga champions.

The Bavarians were forced to contend without Gustavo’s presence in the DFB-Pokal final – owing to his Brazil commitments – while Wolfsburg were keen to make a move for him.

Wolfsburg sporting director Klaus Allofs had hailed Gustavo as the right fit for his club earlier this month, but the Brazilian insists he is going nowhere.

"I have a contract until 2015 and I want to stay", he said on his return to pre-season training after a successful Confederations Cup and a subsequent holiday.

Gustavo churned out 22 league games with four goals under Jupp Heynckes last season, in addition to 10 games in the Champions League as the club clinched their treble with relative ease.

However, Gustavo is excited at the prospect of trying out a different brand of football under new manager Pep Guardiola.

"I’ve only just come back [from holiday] and have work to do to learn Pep’s philosophy. In Bavaria you always have to fight, and this year I have to fight again."
