Everton have joined Liverpool in lodging an enquiry for Juventus striker Alessandro Matri, according to Sky Italia.

With Luis Suarez’s future having been consistently in doubt throughout this summer, Liverpool sounded Juventus out about the 28-year-old’s availability earlier this month.

Now Everton, bossed by Roberto Martinez, have added their name to the list of clubs eager to know about the striker’s situation at the Italian champions.

Juventus have snapped up Fernando Llorente and Carlos Tevez this summer, which should see Matri’s playing time fall dramatically if he remains with Antonio Conte’s men for 2013/14.

The Italian champions therefore are open to Matri’s departure.

Juventus are believed to have informed Everton of the amount they would sell the former Cagliari man for, leaving the Toffees pondering whether to make an offer.

A bid from Everton could force Liverpool’s hand, although the Reds are thought to be waiting for the conclusion of the Suarez saga before moving for another striker.
