Atletico Mineiro are playing hardball over winger Bernard, with the newly-crowned Copa Libertadores winners having rejected an offer of €16m from Arsenal, according to Portuguese daily O Jogo.

The Brazilian club’s sporting director explained only hours ago that a bid of €16m was on the table from an English club, without specifying which side had made the offer.

Now it seems the club in question is Arsenal, though the amount the Gunners have offered has not found favour in South America.

Bernard has had a minimum price tag of €25m slapped on him by Atletico Mineiro and the winger is not actively pushing for a move.
