Celtic’s attempts to boost their attacking front have seen them target RC Genk striker Jelle Vossen for a summer move, according to Belgian daily Het Laatste Nieuws.

Things could be complicated with an €8m price tag, however, as Vossen has been an integral part of Genk’s league form.

Vossen has spent the last six years marshalling Genk’s attack in the Jupiler Pro League, with 87 goals already under his belt.

His exploits helped Genk win the Belgian Cup in 2008/09 even if he had been benched for the final against KV Mechelen.

He is also a full Belgium international and Celtic are understood to be in pursuit for his services to boost their Champions League prospects.

Last season saw the Hoops reach the knockout stages, where they were beaten 5-0 on aggregate by Juventus.

Neil Lennon’s side are already close to signing winger Derk Boerrigter from Ajax, and Vossen will be expected to fill the void left by Gary Hooper’s departure for Norwich City.

Whether Celtic will be ready to splash a relative fortune for the 24-year-old remains an open question, but the forward does have 11 senior caps with Belgium to his name.
