Bayern Munich are ready to sell Luiz Gustavo, news which will put the Brazilian’s legion of suitors on high alert.

New Bayern Munich coach Pep Guardiola has declared the defensive midfielder surplus to requirements at the Allianz Arena, with the arrival of Thiago Alcantara from Barcelona pushing the player down the pecking order.

Gustavo is known to be wanted by Wolfsburg, while Arsenal, Chelsea and Italian giants Inter have also been mooted as suitors.

And now the starting gun on the race to sign the 26-year-old appears to have been fired.

According to German magazine Kicker, Bayern Munich have decided to ship Gustavo out.

The midfielder is set to be joined in the departure lounge by left-back Diego Contento, who is also not in Guardiola’s plans for the new season.

Gustavo joined the Bavarians in 2011, making the move from fellow Bundesliga outfit Hoffenheim.
