Arsenal manager Arsene Wenger is coy on signing former Gunners’ player Mathieu Flamini.

The Frenchman, who is a free agent after the expiration of his contract with AC Milan at the end of last season, has been training at London Colney.

It has been suggested that the midfielder is close to a switch back to his former club, but Wenger did not confirm nor deny those reports.

“He is just here to work on his fitness and he does that very well", Wenger told his club's official site.

“I don't say there is no chance and I don't say there is a chance [he will sign].”

The 29-year-old was signed by the Gunners in 2004 from Marseille.

Flamini amassed more than 100 Premier League appearances for Arsenal over a span of four seasons before deciding to ply his trade in Italy with AC Milan in 2008.

The injury-prone player has four senior caps for France to his name and has also represented the nation at Under-21 level.
