Martin Montoya is not beyond considering options such as Liverpool and Inter Milan if a contract extension at Barcelona does not come to fruition, according to the player's agent.

Montoya's time at Barcelona has been spent mostly battling for a defensive spot with Dani Alves and he made just 11 league starts last season.

And even though he is a boyhood Barcelona man, Montoya's contract is in its final year with no signs of an extension just yet.

His agent has now revealed a host of major European clubs are vying for Montoya's services, with uncertainty also due to the fact that Barcelona are under new management.

Montoya's agent Jose Maria Orobitg told Sky Italia: "The transfer window is closed now, but it is not certain that the extension will go ahead.

"Inter [Milan], Napoli, [Bayer] Leverkusen, [Borussia] Dortmund and Liverpool have been interested. Anything can happen between now and June.

"So far, he is a Barcelona player, but the extension is not in place. We have talked, but there is no guarantee that Montoya can get in the team as long Dani Alves is blocking the way."

Montoya spent last season mostly on the fringes, though he did make an 87th-minute appearance in the Champions League semi-final second-leg against Bayern Munich.

He also scored a goal when Barcelona beat Malaga in the final league game of the season in a 4-1 win.
