In-demand centre-back Kurt Zouma has provided a measure of clarity over his future by insisting that he will never play for his current club Saint Etienne's fierce rivals, Lyon.

Zouma is the subject of interest from a number of sides, with his agent confirming clubs from Liverpool to Manchester United and Borussia Dortmund to Wolfsburg are all firm fans of the France Under-20 star.

The 18-year-old, who helped France's Under-20s to win the World Cup in Turkey this summer, refused to leave Saint-Etienne in the previous transfer window, while Les Verts are also opposed to selling him in the approaching January window.

But when the time does come for Zouma to depart, one club he will not be playing for are Saint-Etienne's rivals.

He told the club's monthly Vert Foot magazine: "I cannot ever play at Lyon, even if they paid me €18m per year!

"I would feel as if I betrayed Saint-Etienne and their supporters."

Zouma has featured eight times in Ligue 1 for Saint-Etienne so far this term, while he has also gained vital European experience in the Europa League.

His contract with Les Verts runs until 2017.
