Real Madrid stalwart Iker Casillas has responded to speculation he could leave the Spanish capital in January, insisting he intends to see out his contract, while admitting his future can hold anything.

Casillas was ousted from his position as Real Madrid's number one by new manager Carlo Ancelotti at the start of the season, who prefers to play Diego Lopez week in, week out in La Liga.

Casillas, however, remains the Italian tactician's first choice for European games. The custodian, for his part, is delighted with the way he is serving the team.

"We are just a step away from the knockout stages, we are well on our way in our Champions League campaign", Casillas told Spanish daily Marca.

Casillas also sought to clarify his statements which he believed were misinterpreted by the media. The Spanish number one was quoted as saying he intends to leave the club in January.

"I'm staying here in January, and in June, and until the end of my contract, but I do not know what will happen in a year, two or three. This is what I meant, for those who misinterpreted my words", Casillas explained.

Casillas' contract with Real Madrid runs until 2017.
