Liverpool do not wish to see any of their players leave in the winter, manager Brendan Rodgers insists, following Napoli's move for Daniel Agger.

Agger's situation has been for all to see at Liverpool, with the Dane on just seven starts in the Premier League.

He has been subject to interest from Barcelona previously, and Napoli became the latest to make an approach, which Liverpool rejected outright.

And while Rodgers is happy to look for arrivals if need be, he does not envision making space in the transfer window.

"Of course we would want to reinforce the group but it has to be players that are clearly better than what we have, who can come in and help the group," Rodgers told a press conference.

"In terms of players going out, we don't have to move anyone out. If players aren't in the team, they need to fight to get back.

"This season won't be about 11 players. It's going to be about the whole squad. Of course, some will play more than others, but they're all professional players.

"Whenever there's someone on the bench, there shouldn't be questions on 'well, does he want to go', or have others coming in trying to take him on loan.

"It's part of being a professional. I pick the team and the job of a professional is to work hard, be professional and respect your team-mates."
