Brendan Rodgers refused to get invovled in the transfer speculation surrounding Cristian Tello despite reports linking Liverpool with a loan deal.

It was reported that Liverpool had already struck a deal for Tello, currently at Barcelona, and that the winger would arrive next month.

Tello was also linked with Valencia, but Barcelona are understood to be unwilling to sanction any such move.

With Liverpool reeling under the weight of a fair few injuries – including from last night's defeat to Chelsea – a quickfire loan could have eased the pressure on Rodgers' squad.

However, when asked about the Tello speculation, Rodgers today told a press conference: "Well I'm sure that's the start! And I'm sure there will be plenty more.

"But there's nothing to add on anything with regards to players coming in. There's nothing imminent.

"Obviously the recruitment team are busy putting things together in terms of the profile of players that we need here to improve the team and squad.

"The owners have put millions into the team and every window we will look to improve the team where we can.

"This window will make no difference."
