The Portuguese even blames himself to an extent for De Bruyne's lack of games, though he is yet to play in the Premier League since 21st September.

The 22-year-old's agent had been poised for talks with Chelsea's leadership before the Christmas period with the winter transfer window fast approaching.

Italy was ruled out as a potential destination though, despite Juventus seemingly interested, with Patrick De Koster saying: "Italy? Personally I'm not sure that would be the best solution.

"Juventus? I have been contacted by agents who told me that they worked for Juventus but no official from Juventus has had direct contact with me.

"So I cannot confirm they are interested in the player."
