Bayern Munich have made contact with the 19-year-old Freiburg defender, who is very highly rated.

The Gunners were looking to snap him up in the summer, but Freiburg insisted they had not received any bids for him.

Ginter has represented Germany at several youth levels and is seemingly ready to take on the tasks at a bigger club.

Dortmund are on his trail as well, but he told Bild: "I have heard about the first contact that Bayern have made.

"There have already been discussions. And, more recently, things have become concrete again."

Despite his relative youth, Ginter has been a regular for Freiburg since 2012/13, and his tally for this season already stands at 17 Bundesliga games.

He had made his way up the Freiburg youth ranks, while he also boasts eight caps with Germany, including in last summer's European Under-21 Championship.
