Fiorentina are not preparing to welcome home Stevan Jovetic, with affording the Manchester City striker a financial impossibility, according to Sky Italia.

Jovetic moved from La Viola to the Citizens in the summer, but has struggled to make an impact at the Etihad Stadium, being restricted to just three Premier League appearances so far.

However, the Montenegrin has suffered with injury and is currently sidelined with a hamstring niggle.

And with the news that La Viola marksman Giuseppe Rossi has succumbed to injury yet again, the 24-year-old had been speculated about as a possible Fiorentina returnee.

But that is impossible for the Serie A side.

Jovetic earns €5m per season at Manchester City, too much for Fiorentina to afford, even on loan.

A more likely possibility is Juventus striker Fabio Quagliarella, though the road to that transfer looks bumpy too.
