Paris Saint-Germain are firm fans of Benfica forward Lazar Markovic, having been impressed with the young Serbian when they met the Portuguese side in this season's Champions League group stage.

Markovic only moved to Benfica in the summer, despite much talk he would land at Chelsea, and the Blues have continued to be linked with the 19-year-old.

But should Chelsea move for Markovic, they would find a fearsome competitor in French champions PSG.

According to Eurosport, PSG were hugely impressed with Markovic's displays in the Champions League and are now actively tracking the former Partizan Belgrade forward.

Benfica are believed to have paid €10m to sign Markovic last summer, with his contract containing a release clause set at €40m.

Such a figure would be well within reach for PSG, though any swoop would be much more likely in the summer rather than this month.

Markovic has made 12 Primeira Liga appearances for Benfica so far this term, scoring three goals and providing two assists for his team-mates.
