Fiorentina have received some mixed injury news from the weekend with Mario Gomez at last set for first-team training, but with Alberto Aquilani out for two weeks.

La Viola have seen Gomez sidelined since mid-September with a knee injury but has been recovering well, while former Liverpool and AC Milan midfielder Aquilani picked up a knock in the last Serie A game.

Aquilani was substituted 63 minutes into Fiorentina's 1-0 defeat to Cagliari, with the club also confirmed injuries to Massimo Ambrosini, Ante Rebic and Nenad Tomovic.

A club statement today read: "Alberto Aquilani picked up a Grade I hamstring strain during Saturday's match against Cagliari.

"He has begun a recovery programme and is expected to remain sidelined for approximately two weeks.

"Mario Gomez has completed his rehabilitation and will resume full training with the rest of the squad on Wednesday."

At the time of the injury, Gomez had been on only his third Serie A game for Fiorentina, having moved to Italy last summer.
