Galatasaray are plotting an ambitious bid to snap up Robin van Persie from Manchester United, with the Dutchman eyed as a potential replacement for Didier Drogba.

Drogba could leave the Turk Telekom Arena this coming summer and Galatasaray are keen for a big-name to arrive if the Ivorian does head off into the sunset.

According to Turkish outlet Fotomac, Van Persie is the dream of the club's powerbrokers and an opportunity to tempt the Dutchman to Turkey is being viewed seriously.

The former Arsenal striker is at the subject of much transfer speculation at present due to Manchester United's lacklustre campaign, which looks unlikely to provide him with Champions League football for 2014/15.

Galatasaray would have no such problems meeting that criteria while they also boast Van Persie's countryman and friend Wesley Sneijder.

The Turkish champions' current coach, Roberto Mancini, knows Van Persie well from his own time in English football and would undoubtedly roll out the red carpet for the Dutchman.

It remains to be seen however if the Holland international would be prepared to move to Turkey from England, even if his displeasure at Manchester United was recently made apparent in the aftermath of the club's 2-0 defeat to Olympiacos in the Champions League.
