Alex Song has explained that if he leaves Barcelona then his preference is to return to the English Premier League.

The defensive midfielder spent seven years at Arsenal before making the leap to Barcelona in the summer of 2012, at a cost of £15m.

However, the Cameroon international has failed to carve out a regular starting spot at the Camp Nou, something which has seen him regularly linked with the exit door.

Song could quit Barcelona sooner rather than later and if that happens, a return to England would be on the cards.

"If I leave Barcelona one day, I would definitely only return to England", Song was quoted as saying by Sport Mediaset.

"Currently, I'm not thinking about it. At the end of the season I'll make a decision and see what happens."

Song has been consistently linked with Manchester United at points over the last six months, though the player admitted he cannot rule out a return to Arsenal.

"A return to Arsenal? Nobody knows what will happen tomorrow, but it is true that I had a great time there", Song said in October.
