The agent of highly-rated Udinese striker Luis Muriel has warned the Italian club that his client wants more playing time.

Muriel's talent has been long signposted, the striker being compared with the legendary Brazil marksman Ronaldo and duly linked with English Premier League giants Arsenal and Liverpool.

But this season the 22-year-old has struggled to gain consistent starts at Udinese, having been brought off the bench for eight of his 18 Serie A appearances so far.

Udinese coach Francesco Guidolin has often preferred other options and this has led to Muriel's agent Helmuth Wennin issuing a coded warning to the Zebrette.

"He loves football and he wants to play more", the agent explained to Tutto Mercato, adding "but he respects the coach's decisions."

Asked for what the future might bring for Muriel, as the summer transfer window quickly approaches, Wennin would not say, insisting the focus of his client is simply on the present.

"At this time he is only thinking that what matters is the present with Udinese."

Udinese have Muriel locked down on a contract until 2018.
