Ajax are moving to keep highly-rated defender Joel Veltman out of Arsenal and Chelsea's clutches, signing the starlet to an extended contract.

Veltman, who has attracted attention from a whole host of clubs, is putting pen to paper on a contract which will keep him at the Amsterdam ArenA until the summer of 2018.

And the 22-year-old is pleased to be continuing his footballing education with Frank de Boer's men.

"I'm glad it's coming about. This will give me some calm", he told the Algemeen Dagblad.

Veltman, who has also been linked with AC Milan, has made 20 appearances for Ajax in the Eredivisie so far this season, as well as having featured three times in the club's Champions League campaign.

He made his senior Holland debut in November last year against Colombia.
