Atletico Madrid are ready to battle Inter for the signature of Manchester United striker Javier Hernandez this coming summer, according to Mexican outlet Terra.

Hernandez has grown frustrated at life on the fringes at Old Trafford, a fact he recently let slip during a recent international call-up to the Mexico squad.

He is expected to end his association with the Red Devils this summer, should an acceptable offer arrive, and Atletico Madrid are keen to take the striker to the Vicente Calderon.

Los Rojiblancos are aware they could meet with stiff opposition from Inter, but are prepared to battle the Nerazzurri for the Mexican.

And being able to offer Champions League football to Hernandez, something which would be lacking at Inter, Los Rojiblancos are confident of winning the race.

Hernandez has managed to start just five Premier League games for Manchester United this season, out of a total 20 top flight appearances.

The striker's contract with the English champions runs until 2016.
