Atletico Madrid have informed defender Filipe Luis that they will not budge from demanding his buy-out clause is met in order for him to move to Chelsea.

The Brazilian left-back has set his heart on joining Jose Mourinho's men this summer, but wanted to help smooth a move to Stamford Bridge by switching for less than his buy-out clause of €24m.

And Luis asked Atletico Madrid if they would consider accepting a lower bid from the Blues, on account of his desperation to move to England.

Los Rojiblancos' response has been swift and, according to Spanish daily Marca, the club have informed Luis that they will not cut a single euro from his asking price.

There seems little doubt that Chelsea will now have to pay €24m should they wish to push ahead with plans to sign Luis.

The English side are hunting a new left-back following the departure of experienced campaigner Ashley Cole this summer.

Luis, who helped Atletico Madrid to win La Liga last season, along with reaching the final of the Champions League, knocking out Chelsea in the semi-final, is Mourinho's preferred choice.

The 28-year-old joined Atletico Madrid in 2010 from Deportivo La Coruna.
