Cagliari are closing the net around Leeds United target Matteo Mancosu, with a meeting scheduled with the player tomorrow.

The striker, who has been in prolific form for Serie B side Trapani for the last two seasons, has been on Leeds' radar, however the 29-year-old has set his heart on a switch to hometown club Cagliari.

The ball is in the Rossoblu's court to close a deal and sporting director Francesco Marroccu is aiming to do just that tomorrow.

"Matteo Mancosu returned to Sardinia from vacation and tomorrow I will meet him", Marroccu was quoted as saying by Cagliari News 24.

"He is certainly our goal", he added.

And the Cagliari deal-maker insisted that all the club's buys will be with the blessing of coach Zdenek Zeman.

"So far our purchases are following the will of the coach and we hope to conclude the remaining negotiations within a few days."

Cagliari were bought by former Inter board member Tommaso Giulini earlier this summer. The club's previous owner, Massimo Cellino, and sporting director, Nicola Salerno, are now at Leeds.
