Lazio sporting director Igli Tare has dismissed thoughts that the Rome giants have switched their attention to Cagliari centre-back Davide Astori and away from Feyenoord's Stefan de Vrij, explaining the club are aiming to sign both players.

The Serie A side face a battle to secure De Vrij, who has been strongly linked with Manchester United, to such an extent his agent was recently forced to deny a deal to take him to Old Trafford has been done.

Also keen on Dr Vrij, who has just one year left on his contract at De Kuip, are Borussia Dortmund and Hamburg.

Lazio are in no way backing off though and want two top quality centre-backs to land this summer.

"Some dissenters say De Vrij and Astori do not want to come to Lazio. That's wrong", Tare told Corriere dello Sport.

"We are continuing to discuss with both players", he added.

De Vrij is currently at the World Cup as part of Louis van Gaal's Netherlands squad and will round off his tournament in the competition's third-place playoff on Saturday, against hosts Brazil.
