Liverpool are closing in on QPR striker Loic Remy after having a bid accepted for the Frenchman by the Loftus Road outfit.

The Reds have a five-year contract ready for Remy to sign and look likely to complete his capture within the coming days.

According to the BBC, Liverpool have now thrashed out an £8.5m fee for Remy with QPR, which brings the deal closer.

Remy spent last season on loan at Newcastle and scored 14 goals in the Premier League for the Magpies.

He was snapped up by QPR in January 2013 as the R's tried to retain their top flight status.

It was a battle QPR could not win and while Harry Redknapp's men fought to gain promotion to the Premier League, Remy was loaned to Newcastle.

Liverpool are bidding to replace the goals lost by selling Luis Suarez to Barcelona earlier this summer.
