Nice coach Claude Puel has confirmed that the French club have sold goalkeeper David Ospina to Arsenal.

The cat has been out of the bag with Ospina's move to north London for some time, with Nice accepting an offer for the Colombian on Sunday 20th July, while the Gunners then prepared a five-year contract for him the following day.

And Puel has now confirmed that Arsene Wenger's men have captured Ospina, being quoted as saying by the BBC: "It is confirmed, yes.

"It's a good affair for Arsenal because he is a very good player."

Ospina recently boosted his stock at the World Cup this summer and arrives at Arsenal to answer the club's call for a goalkeeper.

Wenger's men have lost both Emiliano Viviano and Lukasz Fabianski already and are in dire need of goalkeeping reinforcements.

And the Arsenal boss feels sure he is getting a good player, commenting on Ospina: "I've known him for a long time because he played for Nice – he went there a few years ago and slowly became a very important player for them.

"Hugo Lloris played for Nice before he moved to Lyon. After he moved, they played Ospina. He had a big impact straight away and Lloris was not an easy player to replace."
