Arsenal are aiming to extend striker Olivier Giroud's contract at the Emirates Stadium for a further two years.

The France international striker, who has established himself with the Gunners since signing in 2012 from Montpellier, is currently under contract with Arsene Wenger's men until 2016.

However, according to French sports daily L'Equipe, Giroud has received an offer from Arsenal to extend his contract until 2018.

The 27-year-old helped Arsenal end their nine-year trophy drought last season, scoring three times in the club's FA Cup run as they collected the trophy at Wembley.

And Arsenal are keen to reward Giroud, who has scored a total of 39 goals in 98 games during his time in north London.

Giroud confirmed in May this year that he is holding talks with Arsenal over a new deal, and they have now resulted in an offer being made.

The former Tours player said: "I have a contract for another two years, but we are negotiating an extension."
