Chatter that Manchester United will follow up the signing of Angel di Maria by capturing Daley Blind from Ajax has gone into overdrive after one of the club's officials visited the Red Devils' training complex at Carrington today.

Manchester United have been consistently linked with moving for Blind since former Netherlands coach Louis van Gaal took charge at Old Trafford.

Blind has continued to insist he has no news on a potential departure from the Amsterdam ArenA however, saying after the club's defeat to PSV Eindhoven at the weekend he had heard nothing for weeks.

However, Edwin van der Sar, who played for Manchester United and is now a director at Ajax, was today at the English club's training ground.

Van der Sar slipped in amid the frenzy over Di Maria, who also arrived at the training ground with his agent Jorge Mendes.

And it has been suggested Van der Sar was in England to discuss a potential move for Blind to Old Trafford.

Ajax have been hoping to keep hold of Blind this summer, but the Dutch club have also conceded that if a big-money bid arrived they could be rendered powerless to prevent his departure.

Van der Sar played for Manchester United between 2005 and 2011, but was appointed marketing director at Ajax in 2012, while last year he was also elected to the board of the European Club Association, succeeding Maarten Fontein, to represent Dutch clubs.
