Inter midfielder Fredy Guarin has put a potential move to Zenit St. Petersburg on hold amid speculation Juventus will make a move for him if Arturo Vidal is sold to Manchester United.

Vidal is top of Manchester United's wanted list as the transfer window enters its final few frantic days, but the English club have not yet thrashed out a deal with Juventus.

The Italian champions want to keep hold of the 27-year-old, but are privately open to selling if a large offer drops on their doormat. And in that eventuality, they would likely move for Guarin, a player they came close to signing in January.

According to Italian broadcaster Sportitalia, this has caused Guarin to pause over an offer from Zenit, fully aware he could well be the subject of a bid from Juventus soon.

The Colombia international is thought to be keen on signing for Juventus and does not want to rule himself out of the club's potential options to replace Vidal.

Guarin joined Inter, initially on loan, from FC Porto in 2012.

He enjoyed a hugely successful time in Portugal, winning three Primeira Liga titles, three Portuguese Cups and one Europa League.

The midfielder came close to signing for Juventus in January, while he was also linked with Chelsea and Manchester United. Guarin was quick to reject suggestions he had been pushing to quit Inter though.

"I have been put into the midst of the market, but I've never told anyone that I want to leave", he said.
